HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A Louisville woman is behind bars after police said she tried to get into random cars outside of an Evansville business.
According to an affidavit, Evansville Police officers were called to the 200 block of North Main Street Friday morning. Police were able to identify the woman in question as 28-year-old Ricki Smith.

One person told police that he was working when he saw Smith allegedly trying to open car doors that were in a parking lot nearby. He said Smith found a vehicle that was unlocked and sat in the driver’s seat. He claimed he told Smith to leave.
He also claimed that Smith jumped into another woman’s vehicle while she began to walk into the store. He said he tried to pull Smith out of the vehicle but couldn’t due to Smith still holding on to the gear shifter. That was when the woman reportedly ran over and grabbed Smith by the hair, pulling her out.
The woman reportedly told police that she was taking her child to daycare and had to stop at the store. She claimed she left the vehicle unlocked and started walking across the street when she saw Smith getting into her vehicle with the child in the backseat.
