Crews battle first-alarm battery fire outside west Phoenix business

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Smoke was visible for miles as multiple fire crews responded to a fire outside a west Phoenix business early Monday afternoon. The fire broke out around 1:45 p.m. outside a commercial building near 67th Avenue and Buckeye Road. According to Phoenix Fire officials, the fire involved wooden boxes filled with lithium-ion batteries that were set to be recycled.
