Atmospheric River Causes Devastating Landslide and 56-Foot Tsunami in Alaska

In early August 2024, southern Alaska was struck by an atmospheric river that triggered a massive landslide in Pedersen Lagoon, resulting in a 56-foot tsunami. The landslide, which involved roughly 2 million cubic meters of rock and debris, devastated the area, flattening vegetation and damaging infrastructure.
