Suspect shot by police after standoff in SE Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – A suspect was shot by police following an hours-long standoff in southeast Oklahoma City Monday evening.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to a home near SE 44th St. and Shields Blvd. around 4 p.m. after one person shot at another person.

Upon arrival, the suspect was already barricaded inside, officials say.

“They tried negotiating with the suspect for several hours. That person refused to come out.” said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD. “At one point during this time while he was barricaded inside, he shot several rounds at officers. He continued to shoot rounds at officers at different moments.”

Police say the suspect exited the house with a firearm and threatened officers. This led to one officer shooting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time. No other injuries have been reported.
