Cruise to teach history of Clotilda wreck coming to Mobile this week

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — History enthusiasts can soon learn about Mobile’s past as Historic Blakeley State Park offers a special cruise to the site of the Clotilda wreck.

According to a press release, the cruise is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, and will be guided by heritage tourism group Africatown Experience Tours.

Blakely Park’s website said, “This special tour to the wreck is guided by Africatown Experience Tours. It will provide information on the voyage of the Clotilda, its passengers, and their lives, and the enduring legacy of that fateful voyage by telling their stories.”

The cruise is scheduled to depart from the Mobile Convention Center dock next to Cooper Riverside Park in downtown Mobile at 1:30 p.m.
