Mobile City Council, Helios Alliance to host meeting discussing process of allocating opioid litigation settlement

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Mobile residents and community members can soon attend a public meeting to discuss the process for allocating opioid litigation settlement funds.

The meeting, which is hosted by the Helios Alliance in partnership with the City of Mobile is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Innovation Portal (358 St. Louis Street) and comes ahead of the Request for Proposal process.

According to the release, the meeting will serve two main purposes:

  • “To introduce and explain the System Dynamics based simulation platform that will be used to evaluate all proposals. This innovative approach ensures a fair and objective assessment tailored to Mobile’s needs.”
  • “To provide an overview of the RFP process, including guidelines, submission requirements, and evaluation criteria.”

Helios is working on developing a data-driven analysis to guide the City Council in the allocation approval process with an RFP focusing on four priority areas: treatment, prevention, survival programs, and communication. At a later time the Request for Proposals process will be open to interested parties, the release said.
