Another round of late-day downpours

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Expect a seasonably hot and humid day with highs in the low 90s.

Most of the morning showers will be offshore, but a few may sneak onto the coast before lunchtime. The majority of the downpours develop in the afternoon and evening. Heaviest and most widespread will be after 4pm.

It’s a similar pattern tomorrow and Thursday, but there’s a slightly higher chance for the late-day downpours. They drift toward the coast in the evening.

A stalling cold front arrives late Friday. While the front won’t necessarily increase our rain chances, it does change the timing a bit. Watch for showers to start a little earlier in the day through the weekend. There won’t be as many of the intense downpours in the evening either.

Scattered showers continue early next week as the front slowly dissipates.

We are tracking two tropical waves that may develop. One off the coast of Africa should stay out in the Atlantic. The one in the Caribbean will be slow to organize as it heads west. Next week, the system could make it into the western Gulf of Mexico.
