MDOT cites Purple Line costs in $1.3B budget cuts, will cause highway expansion delay

HANOVER, Md. (7News) – The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) released its draft budget forFiscal Years 2024-2029, and $1.3 billion in funding will be cut. MDOT cites a decrease in funding sources likegas tax, titling tax, transit fares, and vehicle registration. They also cite their existing financial commitments to the highway user revenues and construction of the purple line.
