Grease blockage causes wastewater overflow on Levene Road: MAWSS

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A grease blockage on Levene Road on Monday caused a wastewater overflow into Robinson Bayou, according to the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System.

INCIDENT LOCATION:

The MAWSS news release said 136 gallons of wastewater overflowed into the bayou and their officials responded.

The MAWSS crew cleaned the blockage and took steps to prevent another overflow at the location, according to the release.

MAWSS officials said grease blockages occur when foods containing fats, oils, or grease are put down the drain. MAWSS provides free containers for grease recycling.
