Alameda man, 30, dies after Labor Day motorcycle crash near Los Gatos

( KRON ) — A motorcyclist was killed after a solo vehicle collision on Labor Day near Los Gatos, California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced in a news release. The crash happened around 1:21 p.m. in the area of SR-35 near the Ward Road trail.

The victim was determined to be a 30-year-old Alameda man who was riding a 2014 Triumph Tiger 800 motorcycle, authorities said. A preliminary investigation reveals that the rider was “unable to negotiate a curve in the road.”

The motorcycle suddenly changed direction off to the east side of the roadway. CHP said the vehicle hit two traffic signs and a 25-foot boulder.

Medical personnel arrived at the scene and declared the motorcyclist deceased at 1:13 p.m. CHP said neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to CHP. The victim’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.
