Hundreds of open teacher positions across Hampton Roads as kids head back to school

NORFOLK, Va. – Against the backdrop of a nationwide teacher shortage, school divisions across Hampton Roads report being understaffed. “We have an enormous amount of pressure put on educators to do a number of things,” said Carol Bauer, president of the Virginia Education Association (VEA). “We also see pay that does not keep up with the cost of living.”
