Teenager killed in car crash in North Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — One juvenile is dead following a car crash in North Spokane Monday morning, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sept. 2, around 10:20 a.m., Spokane County deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash and fire on N. Madison Road.

Deputies arrived to find Spokane County Fire District 4 and Fire District 9 attending to a brush fire and a heavily damaged truck off the roadway.

The truck was extensively damaged, and the driver was found deceased inside the vehicle.

Due to the severity of the crash, Traffic Unit Investigators were called to the scene.

Initial information indicates the juvenile male driver was traveling south on N. Madison Road at a speed considered too fast for the conditions.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree, causing a fire that spread to surrounding brush.

Speed and inexperience are believed to be contributing factors in the fatal crash.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the driver’s name, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
