Heavy Tropical Showers & Storms Continue Along Texas & Louisiana Coast

Good morning everyone. The Northeast conitnues to bask in very pleasant and dry weather as strong high pressure controls the show. Mid to upper 70’s dominate most of the area during the daytime, with 50’s overnight for a nice September bite to the air.

Humidity will increase ahead of the next front on Friday, then a soaking rain is expected across parts of the Northeast thanks to that front pulling up tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Our weekend cold front in the Northeast will be the main weather-maker in the Upper Midwest today, and resperesents a reinforcing shot of cooler and drier air.

Look for the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms across upper Minnesota, upper Wisconsin, and the U.P. of Michigan later today and overnight. The primary risk looks like damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain, but we also cannot rule out an isolated tornado.

Along the Texas and Louisiana coast, a wave of low pressure regenerates either just offshore or straddles the coast. This will set off a new area of very heavy showers and storms from the central and eastern coast of Texas, into Louisiana and possibly Mississippi.
