Chattanooga head coach had short but hilarious response to question about Tennessee Vols QB Nico Iamaleava

Nico Iamaleava had one heck of a start to his 2024 season, as did his Vols with a 69-3 thrashing of the Chattanooga Mocs.  The redshirt freshman signal caller had a historic first half in his first-ever Neyland Stadium start, setting the school record for passing yards in a half with 314 on 22/28 passing with 3 touchdowns.

Nico has been getting love from some pundits on his performance, where he threw with impeccable timing and anticipation.

Mocs head coach Rusty Wright very much hopes not to see another quarterback with such capabilities, as evidenced by his response on Tuesday to a question from a local reporter this week about whether he will see anyone close to Nico the rest of the year.

“Hell, I hope not,” Wright responded bluntly.

Well said, coach.

Iamaleava has been a player that has been lauded by his coaching staff behind the scenes for the way that he’s prepared before even becoming the starter.  His mature and thorough approach to being prepared isn’t the only thing that appears advanced, as even a former standout SEC quarterback is already marveling over Iamaleava’s skills .
