Bucs vs. Commanders: Top Storylines to Watch

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to kick off their 2024 regular season against the Washington Commanders at 4:25 p.m. ET inside Raymond James Stadium.

The Buccaneers are bringing a squad into this game that is very similar to last year’s team after they signed the likes of Tristan Wirfs, Baker Mayfield, Antoine Winfield Jr., etc. all to large contracts. The Bucs are seeking their fourth-straight NFC South division title and fifth consecutive playoff birth.

Here are a few storylines to watch out for in the Buccaneers first game:

Containing Jayden Daniels

Quarterback Jayden Daniels will go a long way in deciding the outcome of this game, and it’s intriguing to see how the Buccaneers will contain them. Daniels is a true dual-threat player coming off a Heisman campaign last year at LSU. However, the NFL is a different beast and he never had to play Antoine Winfield Jr. who is the Bucs’ strong safety who will have eyes on Daniels for most of the game.

Daniels also has a rocket for an arm and isn’t afraid to sling it across the field. The Bucs will get the first crack at trying to stop Daniels, and it’s certainly one of the bigger storylines in this matchup.
