Teacher arrested after allegedly offering marijuana to Merced County students

ATWATER, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A teacher was arrested on Friday after deputies say he offered marijuana to minors and sent inappropriate photos to students at a high school in Atwater.

According to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, on Aug. 10, school administrators reached out to the on-campus school resource deputy regarding the allegations being made against the teacher.

Atwater special education teacher arrested, officials say

Through investigation, officials identified the teacher as Julio Barcelo, a special education teacher at Buhach Colony High School.

Deputies say Barcelo was arrested for annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18, and furnishing cannabis to a minor.
