Freeport felon faces meth possession charges after pointing gun at city workers

FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — A Freeport woman is under arrest after allegedly pointing a gun at city workers on Tuesday. Authorities also charged her with methamphetamine possession.

According to the Freeport Police Department, workers with the Street Department said a woman driving a silver Chevrolet pointed a gun at them while they were paving the road at the intersection of Oak Avenue and John Street.

Arriving officers said the suspect vehicle was parked in the 200 block of W. John Street and Kaila Bahr, 34, was located at the residence.

A search warrant was served, and police said they found a loaded semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, and less than 5 grams of methamphetamine and cannabis that was packaged for sale.

Bahr was charged with Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Intent to Deliver Cannabis.

She was booked into the Stephenson County Jail pending the outcome of a detention hearing.
