Learn about native fruits and other edibles at Powhatan State Park

WRIC 8 News announced that Central Virginia residents can learn about the bounty that the Piedmont region’s forest offers in the summer.

Upcoming event

Take a short walk at Powhatan State Park on Saturday, September 7, from 1 to 2 p.m. and be taught about fruits and other edibles the forest offers. The walk is less than a mile, and learning about the forest’s food is worth it.

The park is at 4616 Powhatan State Park Road, Powhatan, VA 23139. Meet at the Launch A parking area, and then walk while looking for ripe pawpaws, spicebush berries, and other edibles.

The walk will be on a mostly flat trail, but wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water.

No registration fee is required, but visitors must pay the standard admission fee at the park’s gate. More information can be found here.
