White Oak science teacher passes away a week into new school year

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A high school science teacher passed away over the Labor Day weekend, just a week after the new school year began. According to an obituary shared on Jones Funeral Home of Jacksonville’s website, Tanya Larose passed away Monday at her home. She worked at White Oak High School for over 32 years. The high school’s website says she was a science teacher, and her obituary states she was also a color guard instructor, cheerleading coach, musical director, mentor teacher and beginning teacher coordinator.
