Kennedy’s Steakhouse opens in the Market District

After two days of running a soft open, the Kennedy’s Steakhouse sat its first dinner rush on Friday, Aug. 30. The new steakhouse is at 199 E. 5th Ave. in Eugene, a block away from one of proprietor Mark Byrun’s other Eugene ventures: the Gordon Tavern and 86 Speakeasy.

“I hope this restaurant brings something unique to the Eugene scene,” Byrun, co-owner of Urban Restaurant Group, said. “It’s sort of an elevated atmosphere in here, like a supper club meets a steakhouse.”

Kennedy’s is high-end for Eugene: when customers walk in, they’re greeted by glitzy hanging lights, a luminous bar and a long centerpiece of white orchids that bisects the restaurant.
