Arts Council of Kern receives $60k donation for rehabilitation project

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Fifth District Supervisor Leticia Perez joined Kern Family Health Care Wednesday to announce a major contribution to the Arts Council of Kern.

The $60,000 donation, received Sept. 4, will be used for the council’s “Art 4 Rehabilitation” project, which targets vulnerable kids and teens within our local juvenile justice center, in hopes of teaching them skills that can help lead to employment.

“We want to see this replicated throughout the state,” said Executive Director at the Arts Council of Kern, Jeanette Richardson. “That the arts can transform lives and we’re hopeful that these young people can come out with a creative economy job. They can learn how to create music, they can own a business, and do something that will give them hope for the future.”
