Man shot to death at MetroCard machine in Brooklyn subway station: sources

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A man was fatally shot inside a Brooklyn subway station Wednesday night, according to the NYPD.

The shooting happened inside the Rockaway Avenue train station around 11:15 p.m. A 47-year-old man was shot in the head in front of a MetroCard vending machine, sources told PIX11 News.

The victim, identified as Freddie Weston, was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

A booth clerk heard the gunshot and a shell casing was found inside the station, sources said.

Weston was known to the NYPD and had a handful of prior arrests, according to sources.
