Chattanooga Man Charged in Machete Attack

September 3, 2024, HAMILTON CO., Tenn. – A Chattanooga man, Rodriquez Davar Jones, 31, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder following a violent incident on June 21, 2024.

Police responded to an aggravated assault at 2413 4th Ave, where they discovered a man bleeding from his head and arm. The victim reported that a black Hyundai sedan had been tailgating him and honking. When he motioned for the car to pass, the driver, later identified as Jones, exited the vehicle and approached him.

The confrontation escalated when Jones allegedly wrested a machete from the victim, who had retrieved it from his gardening tools, and began attacking him. Police obtained video footage of the incident and traced the Hyundai to a woman who was present during the attack. Blood was found on the vehicle’s trunk, which she later wiped off.

Jones was arrested after an investigation revealed his location. The victim’s injuries were severe and potentially life-threatening.
