Gas prices dropping in Missouri as fall approaches

MISSOURI (KOAM) — The temperatures outside may still be high, but gas prices are continuing to drop as fall approaches.

According to AAA , the statewide gas price average is $2.99 per gallon of regular unleaded gas. AAA Missouri Weekend Gas Watch data shows drivers in Jefferson City are paying the most on average at $3.19, while drivers in Springfield are paying the least at $2.84 per gallon.

AAA says gas prices traditionally begin to go down in September as the switchover to the less expensive winter blend gasoline begins.

“Missouri is one of ten states with a statewide gas price average at or below $3 per gallon,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. “Although fluctuations remain possible, drivers will likely continue to see pump prices slide as the weather cools.”

According to AAA , drivers in Missouri are paying the 9th lowest gas price average in the country.
