Front Street NE will be closed in both directions between Market Street NE and Hood Street NE on Saturday and Sunday, the city of Salem said.
The closure will allow for the removal of the skybridge over Front Street NE.
The closure will include road lanes, sidewalks and parking spaces in the construction zone.
The city advised drivers to use caution and watch for workers in the area.
Crews are removing the skybridge to pave the way for the development of the former Truitt Bros. Cannery into a major mixed-use development with 374 housing units, a food hall, brewery, Willamette River waterfront and sports stadium.
