Albuquerque police investigate two fatal crashes

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating two fatal crashes, with one of the crashes involving a pedestrian.

Thursday around 9:30 p.m. APD was called to investigate a crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian near Trumbull Ave. and San Pablo St. Police say two pedestrians were walking in the road on Trumbull when a dark colored truck or Jeep was traveling at a high rate of speed toward the pedestrians. One of the pedestrians was able to jump out of the way, the other was struck by the vehicle and declared dead on scene. The driver fled the scene.

Friday around 4 a.m. APD responded to reports of a vehicle that crashed into a pole near Juan Tabo Blvd. and Montgomery Blvd. Police say the vehicle caught fire and one person inside the vehicle died. A second victim in the crash was taken to the hospital.
