Another heatwave expected to scorch SoCal. We have tips on staying cool

If you planned to go outside, just don’t. Today (Friday, Sept. 6) is the hottest day of the heatwave. It’ll be a scorcher across the Southland.

Expect to see some eye-popping numbers across Southern California where even the beaches are expected to reach the 90s, inland areas will heat up into the 100s.

What’s in store for today:

  • It could get as hot as 103 degrees in downtown L.A. and 105 degrees in Anaheim.
  • Today’s peak highs for the San Fernando Valley will range from 108 to 119 degrees. Woodland Hills could get close to breaking its all time heat record of 121 degrees set back in 2020 — the hottest ever on record for Los Angeles County.
  • San Gabriel and Santa Clarita valleys will range between 108 to 115.
  • The Inland Empire is expected to hit to 114 degrees.
  • Coachella Valley is expected to reach up to 117 degrees today.

What about tonight?

Tonight’s lows for interior areas will be in the 70s, but in the 80s to 90s for foothill and desert communities.

What’s next

The heat will stick around through next week. Saturday will be about 5 degrees cooler, same goes for Sunday. But forecasters say the real cooling won’t begin until next Thursday at the earliest.
