Pedestrian hit, killed on International Drive near Myrtle Beach, troopers say

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A person died early Friday morning at a hospital after being hit by an SUV on International Drive near Myrtle Beach, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

It happened shortly before 6 a.m. near Market Place Drive when the person was hit by a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, Lance Cpl. Lena Butler said. The SUV driver and a passenger were not hurt.

According to Butler, the SUV was traveling east on International Drive when it hit the person, who was walking south on the roadway.

No additional information was immediately available. The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is investigating. Horry County Fire Rescue and Horry County police both responded.
