While summer still has its grip on Arizona, fall is slowly approac hing.

The leaves don’t start to change color until October , with some areas peaking early in the month and other areas seeing the most vibrant colors later in the month and into early November.

  • Flagstaff: There’s no denying that Flagstaff is a popular spot for leaf peepers. Some of the best places to see the leaves around town include theĀ Aspen Nature Loop, Kachina Trail or the Inner Basin Trail.
  • White Mountains : Take a drive along State Route 260 between Pinetop-Lakeside and Eagar for some beautiful scenery. Along the road, there are several lakes or pull-offs to take in the sights. Big Lake is also a popular place to see changing leaves.
  • Mogollon Rim : Drive Forest Road 300, also called Rim Road, between SR 260 and SR 87 or hike See Canyon Trail for a closer look at the fall colors.
