Spokane Valley motorcyclist who crashed over the weekend has died

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A man who crashed his motorcycle near Colbert on Sunday has died from his injuries at Sacred Heart.

According to Washington State Patrol, 78-year-old Kenneth Petersen was riding south on SR-2 at Day Mount Spokane Road around 3:30 p.m. when he hit the center concrete island and crashed.

Petersen was taken to the hospital where he died on Wednesday.

WSP says the crash is still under investigation, and it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors or if Petersen was wearing a helmet.
