SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — FEMA has approved more than $5.5 million in grants and loans to 926 applications in four South Dakota counties as of Thursday.
According to a FEMA news release Thursday, a Disaster Recovery Center will open in Turner County next week at the Viborg Community Center. As of Thursday, a FEMA spokesman provided the latest approved applications and dollar amounts in four counties:
- Davison County 255 approved applications, $993,942 in FEMA funding
- Lincoln County 309 approved applications, $981,579 in FEMA funding
- Turner County 76 approved applications, $267,629 in FEMA funding
- Union County 275 approved applications, $3,306,225 in FEMA funding
In addition, South Dakotans may also be available for assistance for damaged wells and septic systems, due to severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding from June 16 to July 8, 2024, according to a FEMA release on Wednesday.

The assistance may be available to those in Davison, Lincoln, Turner and Union Counties.
