(WIVT/WBGH) – A major mattress retailer in Upstate New York has filed for bankruptcy.
According to Syracuse.com, Metro Mattress, a bedding retailer based in Syracuse, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court on Wednesday.
The company cited expansion into new markets and recent downturns in the industry are the main reasons.
Metro Mattress plans to continue to operate stores in New York but shut down locations in New England.
There are two Metro Mattress locations in Broome County, one in Vestal on the Parkway, and the other is on Reynolds Road in Johnson City.
