Two former students arrested in Dublin High School assault

( KRON ) — Two former students at Dublin High School have been arrested in connection to an assault that occurred on campus last month. Dublin Police Services announced the arrests on Friday, stemming from an assault that took place on Friday, Aug. 23.

Gerald Coats, 18, was arrested for felony assault, child abuse and trespassing. A 17-year-old boy was also arrested for felony assault, police said. Both were former students in the Dublin Unified School District.

The incident in question occurred when five adults allegedly entered campus to confront and attack a student. The incident occurred on a Friday afternoon after classes had ended.

“They followed him into the locker room and assaulted him. Our football players and Coach Kaufman aided in stopping the situation,” Principal Maureen Byrne wrote. “Much of what transpired before and after the assault is captured on video and the police have identified a number of those involved.”
