Kirk Herbstreit Hints at His Prediction for Texas vs. Michigan

Arguably the biggest college football game of Week 2 will take place in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The No. 3-ranked Texas Longhorns will travel north to play the defending champion No. 10 Michigan Wolverines.

However, this isn’t the same Michigan team that won the championship last season. The Wolverines only returned six starters on offense, defense and special teams, the second-fewest in the Big Ten.

During Saturday’s edition of “College GameDay,” Kirk Herbstreit hinted at his thoughts on the upcoming game. Herbstreit believes that Michigan’s defense, which has four returning starters, will perform exceptionally well against the Longhorns.

However, he has concerns about the offense, which only has one returning starter and lost key players such as quarterback J.J. McCarthy, running back Blake Corum and wide receiver Roman Wilson.

“I think they’re going to play out of their mind today, especially defensively,” Herbstreit said. “I don’t know if they have the offense yet to match up with a Texas because of the inexperience. But this is going to be a close game because of how they’re going to play defensively.”
