Over a dozen residents were displaced and four homes were damaged after a second-alarm fire tore through a row of West York row houses, officials said.
Crews were called to the scene on the 100 block of North Highland Avenue in West York around 10:12 p.m. Friday night, Sept. 6, 2024, according to York County 911 dispatch records.
When they arrived, one of the residents of one of the rowhomes had to be assisted from their home, said West York borough manager Shawn Mauck at the scene Friday night.
While a resident needed assistance exiting, they were not injured, and no one was taken to the hospital, Mauck said.
No injuries were reported, either to residents or firefighters, Mauck said.
The fire caused damage to four out of the seven conjoined row houses, Mauck said, with three remaining occupiable.
Mauck estimated around 15 residents were displaced between the four damaged row houses.
Displaced residents were being assisted by the Red Cross on the scene, he said.
The cause and origin of the fire was not yet determined Friday night, Mauck said. A fire marshal was requested to investigate the fire.
