Diondre Overton, a wide receiver who helped Clemson University win a pair of national championships, was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning. The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said that officers responded to a call regarding a loud party and noise disturbance in Greensboro at 2:30 a.m., and that as they were on their way to the scene they were alerted that a shooting had taken place. When officers arrived, they said they found Overton, and rendered immediate medical aid. Despite that, they said, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
