Explore the books of Mexico, Guatemala during workshops

WOODBURN: The series Ancient Books of Mexico and Guatemala will be held at the Woodburn Public Library is a multi-week workshop led by professional storyteller Valentina Ortiz.

The dates will be Sept. 17, 24, and Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. at the library.

Learn to read an ancient Mexican book, listen to the story of Aztec migration and create your own imaginary story.

Colton Fire District sets 9/11 remembrance event

COLTON: The Colton Fire District will hold a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony at 7 a.m. in front of the Colton Fire Station.

There will be a flag-raising ceremony, speakers and music as part of the event.

Remembering 9/11 at the Canby Fire District

CANBY: The Canby Fire District will have a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 8 a.m. at station 361.

This annual event will feature guest speakers, the district’s honor guard presenting the colors, a bell ceremony, and refreshments. A station tour will be available for guests after the event.
