Local stars raise awareness for childhood cancer with charity lunch on Sunday

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – In honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, local celebrities Leva Bonaparte and Zachary Elliott hosted a free lunch event at Mesu on Sunday, September 8.

The event, which ran from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., was dedicated to supporting children battling cancer and raising awareness for the cause. Families and child cancer warriors from Courageous Kidz enjoyed lunch and had the opportunity to meet Elliott.

Leva Bonaparte, a mother and star of Bravo TV’s Southern Charm and Southern Hospitality, emphasized her commitment to helping families facing the challenges of childhood cancer.

Zachary Elliott, owner of the soon-to-open Zachary’s Daiquiris, shared his personal story of surviving bone cancer at age eight, after enduring chemotherapy and the loss of his leg. Elliott’s experience drives his passion for supporting children going through similar battles today.

As part of their ongoing efforts to give back, Bonaparte and Elliott are opening Zachary’s Daiquiris at 460 King Street, with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to organizations like Make-A-Wish that support children with cancer. Elliott, reflecting on his journey, said, “It’s our way of turning challenges into opportunities and making a positive impact on the lives of others.”
