Columbus airport permanently closes covered parking lot

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) permanently closed its Blue Covered parking lot on Friday.

The airport said new parkers will not be permitted going forward as CMH prepares for its new terminal. According to CMH, access to the covered area for vehicles parked there prior to Friday’s closure will still be available until Sept. 23.

CMH also said this closure means there will not be covered parking outside of the garage until the new garage is built. The Blue, Red and Green lots remain open, as does the garage.

Cash App users may be eligible to receive payment

Previously, the Blue Covered lot charged $12 per 24-hour period of storage, making it the most expensive option of the shuttle lots. Now, visitors who wish for their car to be in covered parking can only do so in the garage, at $23 per 24-hour period.

According to CMH plans for the new airport, the remaining Blue lot will also eventually no longer be standing to accommodate the new terminal. The new terminal is expected to open by 202 9, according to CMH.
