Man charged with driving drunk in deadly US-131 crash

GUN PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 20-year-old is accused of driving intoxicated in a crash that killed a man and injured another near Plainwell, deputies say.

Joshua William Bommerscheim has been charged with operating while intoxicated causing death and operating under the influence causing serious injury, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Bommerscheim was behind the wheel of a pickup truck around 6:10 a.m. on Aug. 14 , headed south on US-131 near 102nd Avenue in Gun Plain Township when he hit a disabled SUV on the shoulder of the road.

Two men were working on the SUV. One of the men, identified by the sheriff’s office as 34-year-old Tyler Rexford-Dean Robinson, died at the scene.

The other was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, deputies said at the time. That person was not identified by the sheriff’s office.
