Tampa’s Gasworx development coming into focus with new renderings

Tampa’s Gasworx development is coming into focus.

Why it matters: The project by local entrepreneur Darryl Shaw and Virginia-based developer KETTLER seeks to connect Ybor City with downtown Tampa districts like the Channel District and Water Street.

The big picture: Once complete, the development will bring 5,000 new residences, 500,000 square feet of office space and 140,000 square feet of retail to Tampa.

  • It will all be anchored by a 28,000-square-foot food hall that will be redeveloped into a marketplace with open-air seating.
  • It’s planned for an area of vacant land and warehouses between Ybor City, downtown Tampa and the Selmon Expressway.

State of play: La Union Apartments are set to open this fall, while another apartment complex is underway, set to open in early 2026, according to a new timeline released this week.

  • Two more multi-family developments will break ground later this year.
  • A new city park and pedestrian-only promenade, set to be named the 3rd Avenue Paseo, are among the next steps in Phase 1 of the project.
