New York Knicks fans adore Jalen Brunson. To Knicks fans, Brunson might as well be Mother Theresa for the team-friendly contract extension he signed this past summer. Although it’s no secret how fans feel about Brunson, what about former Knicks players? Stephon Marbury praised Brunson for his “selfless” financial act.
Brunson signed a contract extension worth $156.5 million over four years. Ultimately, Brunson left $110 million on the table for the sake of New York maintaining a championship contender.
Marbury deemed the contract “the best deal ever,” as it showcased Brunson truly wanting the Knicks to win. However, in Marbury’s eyes, Brunson didn’t sacrifice anything, as he succeeded in signing with the Knicks.
“First of all, let’s make something clear. Jalen didn’t pass up anything with the Knicks, ok?” Marbury told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio Podcast.
Marbury believes Brunson’s contract will ultimately lead to more talent signing with New York due to the All-Star’s commitment to the team regardless of the price.
