Believe it or not, not every church-going person is a bonkers Christian nationalist who wants to insert religion into every aspect of your life. There’ll be a few of those voters in Old Seminole Heights this weekend for two days of programming.
The agenda kicks off Friday, Sept. 13 at
Metropolitan Community Church of Tampa
where the Rev. Jakob Hero-Shaw welcomes Dan Partland—director of the film “God and Country”—who’ll discuss the ideology that
says is based around the idea that the U.S. was founded as a Christian nation and should be one going forward.
Right-wing talking head and convicted felon Dinesh D’Souza (who made a conspiracy-laden, widely-debunked documentary,
) once called the movement
Trump, naturally, has catered to Christian nationalists, and last February
“ …no one will be touching the cross of Christ under the Trump administration, I swear to you.”
But the “Christians Against Christian Nationalism Statement” points out that the ideology often “overlaps with and provides cover for white supremacy and racial subjugation.”
