Florida’s 32 LL Flooring Stores to Close as Company Undergoes Liquidation, Leaving Workers Jobless

Floridians who have relied on LL Flooring (formerly known as Lumber Liquidators) for home improvement projects will soon have to seek alternatives as the company plans to close all of its 32 stores across the state. This closure is part of a larger national liquidation process following the company’s bankruptcy filing in August 2024. Along with the store closures, thousands of employees, including around 2,000 across the nation, will lose their jobs.

LL Flooring’s History and Financial Struggles

Founded in 1993, LL Flooring became a well-known flooring retailer, operating 400 stores across 47 states by 2024. Floridians may still remember the company by its original name, Lumber Liquidators, before rebranding in 2020. Known for offering a wide range of flooring options, including hardwood, vinyl, and laminate, the company built a loyal customer base over the years.

Despite its growth, LL Flooring has struggled recently due to challenges in the retail and home improvement sectors. The company filed for bankruptcy in August 2024 but initially hoped to keep 300 stores open while closing 94 locations. Five Florida stores in cities like Clearwater, Florida City, Gainesville, St. Augustine, and Tampa were already slated for closure as part of this restructuring.
