Jupiter Police Chief David England to retire Oct. 31, ending 30-year law-enforcement career

JUPITER — Police Chief David England is retiring on Oct. 31 after serving nearly 27 years with the town.

England announced his retirement on Monday. Jupiter will announce plans for its new police chief in the weeks ahead, according to a statement released by the town Monday. The town’s charter gives its town manager the authority to choose the police department’s leader, as opposed to the Town Council.

“I would like to thank the Town Council, the residents of Jupiter, and all of the members of the Jupiter Police Department for the opportunity to serve as the Chief of the Jupiter Police Department,” wrote England in a prepared statement.

“I am extremely proud of the men and women of the Jupiter Police Department and believe they truly provide the finest law enforcement services and do so while building meaningful relationships with our community.”

England has been the town’s police chief since February 2021, when he stepped into the role after serving as deputy chief for three years before that.
