Police arrest man after ‘shots fired’ call Saturday morning, case dismissed by judge

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Damarcus James, 24, on Saturday after officers responded to a “shots fired” call and allegedly found a weapon in his vehicle. The case was later dismissed in court.

According to police, around 1:55 a.m. the report came in directing officers to the 1000 block of 12th Street.

When they arrived, they saw a vehicle leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop.

A loaded handgun was found inside the car, police said.

James was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

At a 1 p.m. court hearing the same day, Judge Amy Peterman dismissed the case after finding of no probable cause for the arrest.
