Stockton police arrest teen who allegedly assaulted, robbed elderly woman at West Lane ATM

A teenager who is accused of assaulting and robbing an elderly woman at an ATM in a Stockton shopping center was arrested Friday.

The 14-year-old, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, was booked into the San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of conspiracy, elder abuse, and robbery.

The robbery happened at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 in the 800 block of West Lane, according to the Stockton Police Department. That’s when two teenagers approached a 73-year-old woman who was withdrawing money from a stand-alone ATM near the popular SF Supermarket.

Police said the suspects, ages 14 and 15, knocked the woman to the ground and stole the money from her hand, then immediately fled the area.

Police could not confirm how much money the teenagers allegedly stole, but Officer Omer Edhah, a spokesperson for the Stockton Police Department, said detectives believe no other items were taken during the robbery.

Detectives were able to identify the suspects with the help of multiple Stockton Crime Stoppers tips, police said.
