Former film producer Harvey Weinstein had a health scare on Sunday evening. Officials rushed the incarcerated entertainment magnate to the hospital when they discovered his heart issue. Weinstein was in prison following his appeal on the rape allegations made against him. Thankfully, he got the surgery on Monday and is being monitored for updates on his health.

Harvey Weinstein was rushed from Rikers Island in New York to the hospital on Sunday, September 8. The 72-year-old former Oscar-winning tycoon was taken to Bellevue on account of his multiple medical complications. He was quickly scheduled for an emergency heart surgery, which he underwent on Monday. According to his representatives, Craig Rothfeld and Juda Engelmayer, Weinstein has been plagued by several health issues; he was hospitalized for COVID-19 and pneumonia in both lungs in July.

“As we have extensively stated before, Mr. Weinstein suffers a plethora of significant health issues that need ongoing treatment,” Harvey Weinstein’s reps said. “We are grateful to the executive team at the New York City Department of Correction and Rikers Island for acting swiftly in taking him to Bellevue Hospital.” Rothfield noted that his client is recovering in the ICU, and he is waiting for further updates.
