Grocery Store Proposed at Sunrise Town Center in Broward County

A new 47,240-square-foot grocery store, along with a 2,100-square-foot liquor store, may soon be coming to Sunrise Town Center at 3400-3548 N. University Drive in Sunrise, Broward County. The proposal, submitted by BRE Mariner Sunrise Town Center LLC, is set to be reviewed by the Sunrise City Commission on September 10.

Details of the Proposal

The application, submitted by Sara Thompson, an attorney from the Boca Raton law firm Miskel Backman, outlines plans to convert a 51,928-square-foot vacant retail building within Sunrise Town Center into a grocery store for a national tenant. Although the name of the grocer has not been disclosed, the store would operate seven days a weekfrom 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and would employ 30 to 50 people.

The plans also include safety and operational features such as shopping cart storage devices, closed-circuit TV cameras, and burglar and fire alarms. Additionally, deodorizing systems would be installed to manage odors from the store’s operations. In terms of alcohol and tobacco sales, all customers over the age of 35 would be required to present identification.
