City of Tucson to Host Hazardous Waste and Document Shredding Event

TUCSON– The City of Tucson’s Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD) will host a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 8 a.m. to noon, according to the City of Tucson.

The event will be held at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers facility located at 750 S. Tucson Blvd.

According to the City of Tucson, residents are encouraged to safely dispose of hazardous materials such as batteries, paint, fluorescent bulbs, and electronic waste (E-waste) at no charge.

Document shredding services will also be available, with a limit of three boxes per household.

The City of Tucson advises residents to properly discard batteries to protect trash truck operators and landfill workers.

Dried paint and alkaline batteries can be placed in regular home trash, while unknown chemicals will not be accepted at the event.

Additionally, medical waste such as syringes and sharps, business or commercial waste, explosives, and radioactive materials are not allowed, according to the City of Tucson.
